On February 24, 2026, Sergeant Jason Whelen suffered a medical emergency while on duty.
Despite the immediate response and tireless life-saving efforts of fellow deputies and medical personnel, Sergeant Whelen tragically passed away.
Sergeant Whelen began his career with the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office on October 15, 2007. Through his dedication and commitment to service, he was promoted to Sergeant on February 25, 2013.
